An 86-year-old man was taken to hospital with minor injuries after he drove his car through the front of a Shoppers Drug Mart on Walkley Road near Bank Street Wednesday.
The crash happened around 11:54 a.m. The cause of the crash remained under investigation by early Wednesday afternoon.
Photos tweeted by one officer showed two whole glass panels gone from the front of the store. The car, a red Toyota sedan, had gone past the exit and cash registers to come to a rest in the aisle, with products strewn on the floor.
Firefighters disconnected the car’s battery and set up cribbing supports to assist with removal of car.
No major structural damage to building was detected and there were no injuries to patrons or staff reported.
There were no other injuries reported.
Police had cleared the car from the scene by 1 p.m. and the store has reopened.
