One man was being cared for by paramedics while other residents sheltered in an OC Transpo bus after a fire in a Centretown apartment building Sunday night.
Fire crews were summoned by an alarm from 379 Gilmour St. and then a 911 call reporting smoke on the 7th floor.
They spotted heavy, black smoke coming from one of the apartments on that floor and declared a working fire at 10:47 p.m.
The flames were under control by 10:54 p.m. and losses stopped at 11 p.m.
An Ottawa Fire Services investigator was responding to determine the cause of the blaze and the amount of damage done.
