A woman in her 60s was rushed to hospital in critical condition Monday afternoon after she was struck by a large truck while walking in the area of Cedar Creek Drive and Findlay Creek in the city’s south end.

Police and paramedics responded after the call came in at 1:21 p.m.

Paramedics said she suffered life-threatening injuries to her legs, pelvis and chest. It was not immediately known whether the woman was crossing the intersection at the time she was struck.

Police investigators remained on scene Monday afternoon. There was no immediate word on whether the truck driver would face any charges.

Police were asking motorists to avoid the area along Bank Street in the Leitrim community. The intersection remains closed, and police were rerouting traffic to nearby arteries.
