A man in his 30s is in hospital in critical condition after being found face down in the pool of a high-rise Riverside Drive apartment building Monday morning.
Ottawa paramedics said they got the call at 10:10 a.m. to the building near Smyth Road and found the man in cardiac arrest. With the help of firefighters, they launched aggressive attempts to save his life including inserting a breathing tube, giving him medication to restart his heart and applying a defibrillator.
He was in the hospital in critical condition.
It was unknown how long he’d been in the pool or whether it was a medical incident because it was an “unwitnessed event,” paramedics said.
