North Bay OPP has identified a 36-year-old Ottawa man as the person who died when a car collided with two moose Tuesday night.
Denis O’Neil was fatally injured in the crash, which happened at about 10:15 p.m. on the westbound Highway 17 in Bonfield Township east of the city.
The collision closed a stretch of Highway 17 from Highway 94 to Highway 531 until about 2:38 a.m. while the technical traffic collision investigators examined the scene.
Police have urged motorists to be careful in northern regions because moose and deer are very active this time of year. The highest activity is around dusk and dawn.
