Then-Chief of Staff of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Miles Taylor poses with President Trump in the Oval Office.
MILES TAYLOR
KEY FACTS
Taylor, who served under Homeland Security Secretary Kjersten Nielsen from 2017 to 2019, accused Trump of telling FEMA officials to withhold aid to California as retaliation because Californians didn’t support him politically and claiming “magical authorities” above the law.
Taylor claimed in a video for the PAC Republican Voters Against Trump to have personally briefed the president on national security, writing in a Washington Post op-ed that he “witnessed the damning results firsthand” of Trump’s “indiscipline.”
But Trump denied knowing Taylor at all, telling reporters on Tuesday during a trip to Yuma, Ariz., “I never met him to the best of my knowledge... I never heard of him” and calling him a “lowlife,” according to Washington Examiner reporter Rob Crilly.
This comes after Trump tweeted on Tuesday, “Many thousands of people work for our government. With that said, a former DISGRUNTLED EMPLOYEE named Miles Taylor, who I do not know (never heard of him), said he left & is on the open arms Fake News circuit. Said to be a real ‘stiff’.”
