With the help of artist Marc Walter, two landart installations are being created at the Billings Estate National Historic Site. On August 11, from 10 am to 4 pm, you can help with the creation of the art pieces.
Walter is creating Flow, a river-like rolling fence, and Hieratic, a dome reminiscent of a boulder left behind by ancient water flows, using recycled branches, twine, and other natural materials.
Visitors of all ages are encouraged to explore the installations, to contribute words evoked by their experience, and incorporate these words into the artworks. This activity will take place outdoors on the museum grounds.
Both Flow and Hieratic are inspired by the museum’s 2019 exhibition, Water: A Journey to the Source, which explores how the city’s landscape has been shaped by this important resource.
You can also join artist Marc Walter from 5:30 to 7:30 pm on August 21 to tour the two new landart installations and to learn more about the museum exhibition that inspired these works.
For further information, visit ottawa.ca/billingsestate, call 613-580-2088, or follow Billings Estate National Historic Site on Facebook.
