Lanark OPP searching Carleton Place for 'armed and dangerous' suspect after serious assault

OPP officers were hunting for a 30-year-old suspect after they found a man with serious injuries at a motel on Highway 7 in Carleton Place early Wednesday morning.
Shane Sabourin is described as white, 5-7 and 199 pounds with black hair and blue eyes. The Carleton Place man was last seen wearing a black long-sleeved shirt and pants and walking along Highway 7 near McNeely Avenue in the community about 50 km southwest of Ottawa.
“This individual may be armed with knife,” the OPP said. “DO NOT APPROACH. Please call 911 if you have any information on his whereabouts.”
Lanark OPP officers were called to the motel at about 4 a.m. Wednesday.
The search is being directed by the OPP’s criminal investigations branch.
