At approximately 7 am this morning the residents centered in the Pinecrest area experienced low water pressure for approximately 90 minutes. The affected area extended from Moodie Drive east to the Transitway/Woodroffe Avenue, and from the Ottawa River south to Baseline Road.

Residents and businesses in this area are advised to run their taps for 10 minutes or until water is clear to flush any air or iron particles from the watermain pipes. Any yellow or ‘rusty’ appearance in your tap water is due to iron sediments being disturbed in the watermain. These iron levels are not considered a health risk.

There is no anticipated risk to health if water was consumed during this event. If you have concerns, please contact the City of Ottawa at 3-1-1.

The low pressure was caused by a scheduled maintenance activity in combination with ongoing construction in the water system. The Lemieux Water Purification Plant continued to deliver safe water to the City’s water distribution system. City staff have been conducting additional watermain flushing throughout the affected area.
