What’s new

Here’s the City’s weekly roundup of information in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. You can also get daily City updates on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram:

The latest from Ottawa Public Health

  • Enjoy the great outdoors safely! Be Social Wise, even when outdoors. Practice physical distancing, wear a mask and avoid areas like rinks, hills, and trails when crowded to protect each other against COVID-19.
  • ICYMI: Initial rollout of the Pfizer vaccine to Ottawa long-term care residents started this week. Ottawa Public Health is working with The Ottawa Hospital and the City of Ottawa to vaccinate all eligible residents of Ottawa’s 28 long-term care home as soon as possible, helping protect those in the community who need it most.
  • Be sure to check out Ottawa Public Health's COVID-19 Dashboard for up-to-date information on COVID-19 in Ottawa.

In case you missed it

  • Watch the City’s media availability on January 5, 2021 for details on the various tactics that will be used to distribute and administer COVID-19 vaccines across our city.
  • Paula Edwards remembers the day she found out she had COVID-19. She, and others who have received the vaccine, feel that they are helping give the community “a fighting chance” against COVID-19.
  • Ponds at stormwater facilities are designed to capture stormwater and prevent flooding – they are not safe for recreational use, such as skating.
Stay off the ice in the winter as water levels and flows change rapidly making skating or other activities extremely dangerous.
  • On December 21, 2020 Ontario announced a provincewide shutdown to stop the spread of COVID-19.
