Essential Functions: The Database Administrator will be responsible for supporting the architecture and processes of Oracle 7 and Oracle 8/81/91 servers. Also, to create and manage the database via start up, granting access privileges, implementing backup/recovery and archiving techniques.
Essential Knowledge: 1. Must be able to configure the multi-threaded server, maintain data integrity constraints, manage indexes and clusters, monitor lock contention, system performance and tuning.
2. Experience w/Oracle 7/8/8i/9i triggers and stored procedures.
3. Must have working experience of the systems life cycle model regarding delegation of duties
4. Must have working experience of Oracle replication.
5. Develop scripts for Oracle database builds and conversion routines for data tools.
Essential Education: THE MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRED ARE:
4+ years Oracle Experience,
2 years Sybase Experience,
1 year Informix,
3.5+ years UNIX Experience (HP/UX-Sun Solaris),
2 years PL/SQL,
3+ years Shell Scripting.
Essential Skills: THE MINIMUM SKILLS, APTITUDES AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED ARE:
A thorough understanding of the Oracle architecture to include the system global area (SGA). Must be able to understand the relationship between the operating system, the database and the associated application regarding troubleshooting and knowledge transfer. The applicant must be able to use the ‘vi’ editor to aid in work responsibilities and script writing. Must have good written and oral communication skills to better serve the user community.
Organizational "Fit" Considerations: Participate in a call out rotation to provide 24 hour support, 365 days a year.
