当时巴屯的两位议员要求把选址决定权从City Staff手里拿下的动议，除了巴屯两位议员和东边的一位议员赞成，其他20来位包括卡屯的议员反对“夺权”，表面他们相信City会作出正确的选择。。。

这种得罪人的事情我要是市议员也不愿意自己投票决定

呵呵，韭菜自己约的炮，闭着眼睛打吧，要死要活的也没用。比较公平的是抓阄，哪个区摸着了，今后就把难民全安置在那地方。

刚提了建议， 人微言轻，意在表态：

1. Asylum seekers are not refugees and should be restricted to access public funded refugee services. People who advocate for asylum seekers should be encouraged to each bring at least one asylum seeker to their own houses, and the city can seek federal funding to reimbruse these people.
2. Documented refugees deserve respect, humanity care and quality services. Tensile membrane structures, whatever benefits are claimed, are not suitable as refugee housing. The city should explore funding sources to acquire permanent housing units to resettle refugees, even for transitional purpose. Tensile membrane structures should not be built to house refugees.
3. The city government should be accoutable to tax-paying residents. Proposing newcomer welcome centre prior to public consultation with affected communities undermines the city's credibility and public support. The city should not proceed with the initiative until meaningful public consultation is completed.

City的memo里面选址过程和标准很详细，前后好几个phase，可以找议员要一份看看。。。memo说，选这两个地址以后的下一步，就是听取public的意见。。。

我没冤枉他们啊，市里盖房改zone改建都有标准流程，首先就要发通告，咨询附近居民意见，听证会，等等，流程起码两年呢。你再去看看有几个议员有抱怨被蒙在鼓里。市里的左棍们就是知道这事难搞，所以走邪道。

Exactly, 连Councillor 都不知道就被决定了？民主的流程哪儿去了？不应该先consult public 吗

我没冤枉他们啊，市里盖房改zone改建都有标准流程，首先就要发通告，咨询附近居民意见，听证会，等等，流程起码两年呢。你再去看看有几个议员有抱怨被蒙在鼓里。市里的左棍们就是知道这事难搞，所以走邪道。

类似在公园里办一个怕踢，要搭几个大帐篷，需要改zoning吗

Councillor都不知道，你就决定了。NB

首先，不可能市政府的每一项工作市议员都要亲自做决定

其次，如果市议会投票通过，估计市议会能对某具体事项投票决定

但是，市议员也不见得愿意自己投票决定一些注定要得罪人的事。

不然比如某些人会说纳税人是议员的衣食父母，议员欠衣食父母的，选举投完票就把衣食父母当孙子。。。
这些听多了议员可能也烦
