No arrests have been made, but police believe there is no further threat to public safety.
On Saturday morning, two police cruisers were stationed at the front of the house. Yellow police tape was stretched across the front door and from the driveway to a water fountain on the front lawn.
Next door neighbours politely declined commenting to the media.
The most notable action on the quiet street was the presence of countless dog walkers, who expressed shock that a homicide had occurred in their neighbourhood. One woman, who chose not to give her name, said the home was owned by a couple with a young child.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Ottawa Police Service homicide unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5493.
Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers, toll-free, at 1-800-222-8477 or at crimestoppers.ca.
