The City will celebrate National Flag of Canada Day and the 60th anniversary of the Canadian flag.
The City of Ottawa will mark National Flag of Canada Day and the 60th anniversary of the Canadian flag this Saturday, February 15. To celebrate this day, the City of Ottawa will fly multiple Canadian flags at City Hall, including the flagpole in front of the Heritage Building.
Illuminations in red and white are also planned for the Heritage Building at Ottawa City Hall and the OTTAWA sign in the ByWard Market.
On February 15, 1965, Canada’s red and white maple leaf flag was raised for the very first time on Parliament Hill. On the same day in 1996, National Flag of Canada Day was declared.
