The big speculation being reported is that because he graduated from West Point, worked his way up the ranks to become not just the chief of staff for the US Army but also at one point served as a top aide to the former Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin during the Biden administration, that the belief was that Hegseth decided that George was not someone who would do his bidding, or more importantly, bidding for Trump.

And that they wanted someone who would advance the president’s agenda, which is typically not what uniformed officers in the military do.

They are expected to remain non-partisan.
