Western Conference finals Tied, 1-1
Lakers Home | Timberwolves Home
LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Lakers hope to maintain their perfect home record in the postseason on Tuesday when they host Game Three of the Western Conference finals against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Los Angeles has won eight straight at home, including all six playoff games. The Lakers went 3-0 at home in each of the first two series against Houston and San Antonio.
Minnesota is 2-3 on the road in the playoffs. However the Timberwolves did record a win here in last year's first round to take a 2-1 lead in the series before dropping the final three games.
On Tuesday, Lakers forward Karl Malone was fined $7,500 for running through a screen set by Darrick Martin in Game Two. Malone was ejected from the game, which featured eight technical fouls.
MEANINGFUL MATCHUP:
C Shaquille O'Neal vs Ervin Johnson/Michael Olowokandi. O'Neal dominated the Timberwolves center duo to the tune of 27 points and 18 rebounds in Game One. In the second game, O'Neal was noticeably less aggressive and collected 14 points and 16 boards. In addition, the frustrated O'Neal received a technical. Johnson, Olowokandi and former Laker Mark Madsen can do little to stop O'Neal. If he comes to play, it is his game to dominate.

Lakers: G Kobe Bryant is averaging 25.0 points in the series, proving just how unguardable he is. Bryant has utilized the postseason to showcase that he is the most explosive player in the league. Sprewell must find a way to slow him down if Minnesota is to survive.
