Safety in any car this small will always be a concern, but the Smart comes complete with front and side air bags, anti-lock brakes and a safety cage engineered with all the expertise the automaker can muster. Mercedes claims it does better in crash tests than many larger, European subcompacts, but it is definitely at a disadvantage in a close encounter of the SUV kind............
