of course they won't admit they did something wrong, all they could do is to elaborate a long paragraph saying they are actually non-biased...but this is enough, really...they know what to do with such situation NEXT TIME!

I am not wrting anything back because I think it's fine really, what else do we expect? They didn't explicity say Liu was caught Cheating! So enough is enough...

well now I am happy, no matter what those losers say!!!!!!! Bang!! just like that!

Thank you for your e-mail drawing our attention to a report, broadcast
on the August 28 editions of SATURDAY REPORT, that you felt was misleading.

The report concerned the efforts made by Olympic officials to identify
and disqualify athletes taking performance-enhancing drugs. You wrote,
in substance, that because the report began with a brief video clip of
Chinese hurdler Liu Xiang, it implied that he was one of the athletes
caught cheating.

Of course, that was not the case. Nor did we have any intention of
suggesting that it was. Quite the contrary. Just the night before Liu
had run the men’s 110-metre hurdles in world record tying time and won
China’s first ever gold medal in Olympic track and field competition. It
was an outstanding accomplishment and one applauded around the world.

Indeed, the report began by highlighting that celebrated achievement.
The newsreader that night introduced the report with a video clip of the
race saying that it was “a golden moment for Chinese hurdler Liu Xiang,
and a rare moment for track at these Games. Liu’s time broke the Olympic
record and tied the world record.” To further underscore the
significance of the victory, CBC News superimposed the title “Rare
moment” over the race video.

Following that introduction, the reporter began by pointing out that,
“Few records have fallen in Athens because many were set in the
steroid-soaked ‘80s often by competitors who many believe were cheating
and would never get through today’s drug net.” The rest of the report
concerned the anti-doping measures taken by the International Olympic
Committee and an assessment of their effectiveness.

To be clear, the video of Liu’s race was included not because it
suggested in any way that he had taken drugs, but quite the opposite. It
was included to underscore the fact that with improved anti-doping
measures at the Athens Olympics record-breaking performances, like his,
were rare.

Finally, I want to assure you that we take great pride in the excellence
of our journalism. We take very seriously any assertion that our
journalism is inaccurate, biased or unfair, or in any way fails to meet
the rigorous criteria set out in the CBC’s Journalistic Standards and
Practices. Where criticisms are justified, we take immediate corrective

The fact is: nansun45 did write a letter to complain, whatever the result is, she did what she could, wasn't that something?

This "I don't know what to do but what you are doing is stupid" kind of attitude sickens me. If more follow her path, maybe we could achieve something in the future, just maybe.

That's why I called CBC and asked for the tape...I thought you misunderstood what the program showed in the first place, and your compalints were utterly, totally groundless...

The reply from the CBC proved I was right!
