haha, I wouldn't say it is for everyone. Plus, a lot of time, home works are project based, it is up to kid to decide how much he/she is going to spend time and effort.
For example, my neighbor's daughter is in high school. She is a pretty smart kid, all A in report. Her home work stretch to midnight from time to time, according to her mom. And it is not uncommon for my son (second year in middle school) to work till 10-11pm, although usually caused by his procastination, which I am not particularly happy with. But you get the picture...
My neighbor is a high school math teacher. She says that there are many parents will give specific demands on how to teach their kids (extra home work is on top of the list). When it comes to kids education, soccer mom can be as aggressive as Chinese mom, I don't seem much fundamental difference there...
