The best ways to demonstrate your skills are:
1. Publish some articles in English on website or better, on professional magazines.
2. Improve your verbal English and convince your interviewer about your capability the first time you are interviewed.
3. Always keep high spirits, some of my friends "suffered" about 2+ years before finally getting the most-suited job offer. (The fundmental reason is their poor verbal English, which damaged their TELEPHONE interviews always at the first time)

HTH & good luck.

Thank you so much.

1. oh, Lord, I am only a bachelor in CS. I have no specialty. so don't know what to publish. plus, I don't think I want to work on pure technical staff any more. It's more stressful and boring which can make you get old more easily. (what can I say, I make a bad decision to pursuit a cs degree. For Cs I just interested to know but not to work on it, I guess)
2. I think I do need to improve my Eng.
3. Strangely enough, I got 3 of my co-op job through telephone interview. Never got one from face to face interview(why? I am not ugly! maybe I look too girly? why? I don't know)
yeah, I think I do get discourage easily. not easy to maintain high spirited.

I have many general interests, but nothing has yet interesting me enough to make me determine to pursuit no matter what. .
  :crying:  :(

i have never consider finding a job is a very difficult thing, and I am only a undergraduats. Many of my friends who are first generation immigrants or visa-students are the same, new grads, and still able to find a decent job. It really depend on yourself, you can't blam eveything on the govt, there are plenty of jobs out there and govt got many of the programs that help new immigrants.

please tell me, how and where do you find jobs? thanks

Lots of people go to Toronto because it's a big city so they thought it's easier to find jobs. It's very true if you want to find jobs in the supermarkets or resturants or shopping malls. I know several people in Toronto, they work as cashier or salesperson or bus driver or corner store owner...But most people I know in Ottawa work in private IT companies or government. I had no IT experience at all in China, here in Canada, I only graduated from a two-year computer program from Algonquin College but I got my job as a programmer and analyst in federal government and almost all of my schoolmates got their jobs in government. In government, the assignments are not too difficult, the salary is good, the benifits are good, the people there are nice, no stress, no worries and no discriminations at all and I know government hasn't stopped hirings for several years. I don't think it's easy to find a good job but it's not too difficult.

Although the IT job market cannot compete 4 years ago, there are some employers are hiring. Many Chinese immigrants who has good IT experiences unwittingly ignore improving language and communication skills which makes one viable to get job or promotion. You definitely don't need to publish any tech stuff, but good English is fundamental.

Good luck is always necessary, I wish you good luck!

PS. If you never got interview from employer, you may have to review your resume.

加拿大根本不缺什么技术人员,缺的是劳工

同意,而且这个政府知道这种情况在发生还是拼命的吸收技术类的移民,就非常的可恶.

Thank you.
My Eng comprehension is pretty good. Probably my verbal skills and Eng pronouciation need to be improve.

I also have financial background and certificate which should make me a good candidate to work in a bank, right? but strangely, I applied many jobs in CIBC and Royal and a few applications in other banks on-line. but nothing gets back. not to mention interview. strange.maybe I do need to do sth about my resume.

so freaking strange!!! I can't comprehend this!!!

It's easier and faster to find a government job through co-op education. It takes one year to find a government job from external. I found my job in 2002 but my employer hasn't stopped hiring since then and it's still hiring.

my last coop job was in Regina, Saskachewan. I got my degree in SK. I could have stay in that company, but then I decide to move to Ottawa, becuse Regina seems so boring. Now it is really boring and stressful. sigh.......Probably a very bad move.
