Electronic Data Processor III - Engineering Operations
ELECTRONIC DATA PROCESSOR III
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Formats and prepares documents using the computer and specific types of software to combine text and graphics to produce documentations including company plans, proposals, reports, manuals, specifications, etc
TYPICAL DUTIES:
Provides formatting for a variety of documents from handwritten, typed or computer generated drafts as per company standard templates or as instructed.
Incorporates changes or corrections to existing electronic files according to instructions provided and using the most effective and efficient method available.
Performs high-end desktop publishing services requiring extensive knowledge in publishing tools and techniques.
Performs established department electronic style and format checks or as instructed.
Imports existing electronic graphic material for insertion into electronic documents.
Performs database entry for departmental records and file keeping.
Assists with assembly of print ready copies.
Prepares simple block type diagrams, tables and flowcharts using graphic software under the direction of the Illustration staff.
Trains temporary and junior staff in the use of word processing software’s, formats used, and operation of department equipment and related practices.
Provides Electronic Publishing services using various software packages under the direction of the Senior Illustrator and Technical Writing staff.
Ensures formal data backups and archiving are performed on a routine basis.
Provides scanning services as required.
Performs verification and cleanup of documents.
Performs peer quality assurance checks as required.
Ensures adherence to established processes and actively pursues process improvements within the Publications department.
Performs other related duties are required
EDUCATION:
Equivalent to a completed high school graduation in relevant general, commercial or technical subjects.
EXPERIENCE:
Over three years up to and including four years of relevant computer desktop experience in publications applications. Experience with PC/Server environment using the various Microsoft suites of software. Knowledge and hands-on-use of the Internet. Experience with file transfer software/hardware methods. Familiarity with publication practices.
