Topics: * Kernel source code management using git
* USB is for mice; FireWire is for men
* Lightning talk(s)
Date: Tuesday May 3th, 2005
Time: 19:00 - 21:00
Cost: Free (donations to OCLUG encouraged)
Location: Ottawa Public Library
120 Metcalfe St., Ottawa (Laurier intersection)
Map: http://www.oclug-meeting-map.notlong.com
The Ottawa Canada Linux Users Group invites you to attend their May
monthly meeting.
Kyle McMartin will start off the evening by giving a talk on Source Code
Management (SCM) using git, the tool Linus is using to replace BitKeeper for
the Linux kernel. Git was written to be an extremely fast (but stupid)
directory content manager, on which SCM tools are being built. Kyle
will give a general overview of git and related tools and the problems
they solve.
Jody McIntyre, the ieee1394 (FireWire) maintainer for the Linux kernel,
will then give a short talk entitled "USB is for mice; FireWire is for
men," intended as a brief overview of how ieee1394 works and what it can
do. Technical details will be provided but the talk aims to be
accessible to everyone.
Liam Howlett will also give a lightning talk on creating interactive
interfaces using dialog.
More lightning talks are welcome; please email me if you'd like to speak.
After the meeting, all are welcome to attend the monthly Beer SIG at the
Cock & Lion Ale House, 202 Spars Street near Bank.

Hope to see you on Tuesday!
