Ottawa City Councillors are being warned to brace for the wrath of taxpayers over the assessed market value of the average home.
Ontario's Municipal Property Assessment Corporation will issue new assessment notices this fall.
City Staff say the average assessment increase will be in the double-digit range, like in 2003 when the market value of homes jumped 25 per cent.
Councillor Alex Cullen says the property values will be one of the factors used to calculate property taxes next year.
