We are closing our new home purchase in 6 weeks from now, and we are thinking of hiring a home inspector to do inspections. We are dealing with Minto. Our question is when to hire the home inspector, hire him/her for pre-delivery inspection, or for the one year warranty inspection? We like to hear suggestions from people, so please share your experiences with us.

Also, has anyone hired HOME INSPECTORS (http://www.home-inspectors.com/) to do inspection before? How did they do? Any opinions?

thanks

Thanks, I already checked before posting. I could not find anything similar

Moneywise, you may hire an inspector to do your PDI + year end in a package..some inspector charges this way, 350 + tax, they do pdi + year end; 325 + tax, they only do your year end...it ends up you pay 25 bucks more and he inspects twice for you

but make sure your builder agree to let the inspector do the PDI..my builder is very sensitive(actually against) with regard to hiring the inspector to do the pdi...

The deal is not bad. Who is the inspector offered such deal? I got a quote for $400 plus GST for PDI, and another $400 + GST for year end.

For your information, Builder Bulletin #42 from the Tarion Warranty Program issued August 2003 states that all new home owners whose homes have a possession date after Oct. 1, 2003 are entitled to bring a home inspector with them to their pre-delivery inspection with the builder.
