Security Clearance is not obtained by examination.

Security Clearance
If a position requires you to have regular access to sensitive information and assets, you will require a security clearance. This essentially involves a background check.

Individuals working in Defence Science are subject to a higher security designation of what is generally required across the federal government due to the nature of their work.

What's involved
Security checks involve the verification of personal, educational and employment data as well as references, criminal records, fingerprint and credit checks.

Higher level security clearances include an assessment of reliability with former employers and references, as well as field investigations. Personal background checks cover a period of 10 years prior to the time of the application (or as far back as the applicant's 16th birthday, whichever comes first).

In the course of their duties, security screening investigators may talk to your friends, neighbours and former employers. Participation in these interviews is voluntary.

我有一同事因工作需要 Level III， 他法国十几代的族谱都被CSIS翻了出来。最气人的是， 他的初恋 和他的婚外遇也被整了出来。结果他一怒之下，老子不干了行不。

只要没有犯罪记录，谁都能通过 Enhanced Security Clearance。

For Enhanced Security Clearance, one to two weeks.

It is possible but it is case by case.

For your information since you did not identify your citizenship.

A non-Canadian citizen, who has been granted a Canadian FSC "with limitations", may have access to CLASSIFIED information and assets which originates from their nation of citizenship, as well as to certain Canadian information and assets. Such individuals require approval by CIISD prior to being given access to third-nation information and assets. These individuals shall not be given access to CLASSIFIED information and assets marked "For Canadian Eyes Only". Any questions concerning access privileges should be referred to the CIISD.

For any level, if they cannot clear you, you cannot pass. In other words, if they cannot find enough information to convince themselves you are dead.

Thanks a lot for your reply, 楚天. FYI, I became a Canadian earlier this year. Please advice me the possiblity of getting Secret level clearance. I don't have any problem with my past.
