What you can do is to say in the letter that as your wife is due soon, you want to invite your parents to see their baby grandson/granddaughter so that you can have a family gathering. This will be a good and acceptable reason.
Actually, an invitation letter (to LZ's parents, not to the visa officer) is required. A letter fo the officer is not required. But you can write a cover letter if you want to.
