请问：关于跨省搬家驾照和保险问题

现住OTTAWA，用安省驾照及车牌申请的汽车保险。马上要搬去MONTREAL，是否应该抵达后立即申请魁省驾照？如是，是否要立即将现在的保险CANCEL掉，在魁省申请新的车牌和保险？还是可以使用安省驾照，车牌直到保险到期?不知道该怎么办，请大家指点。

You have to ask the Licensing Office in Québec. Generally, you have to change your driver's licence within 60 to 90 days when you move to a new province (or a US state) but the exact time limit depends on the laws of the province. In Québec, the driver's licence fee includes part of the insurance and therefore it is a bit more expensive than that of Ontario. However, the overall insurance premium (there is another part that you need to buy from a private insurance agent) is lower than that of Ontario.

If you do not plan to drive, you do not have to change your Ontario licence before it expires. However, if you do not change it before it expires, you may need to retake the driving exam in Québec all over again.

I re-read your question. You need to change everything to Québec before the the deadline for interprovincial licence transfer (You have to verify this with the Québec government. Website: www.gouv.qc.ca, Click English and then there is a section called 'Moving to Québec', or you can visit the office of Communication Québec in Hull and they can give you a whole package of forms and pamphlets about what you have to do when you move to Québec.); otherwise you will not be able to drive after the deadline.
