ASSOCIATION OF CANADIAN COMMUNITY COLLEGES (ACCC)
ACCC IS LOOKING FOR TWO VOLUNTEER RECENTLY-ARRIVED SKILLED IMMIGRANTS FROM CHINA AND INDIA TO PARTICIPATE IN A REHEARSAL ORIENTATION AND COUNSELLINGSESSION, AND PROVIDE FEEDBACK AS PART OF ACCC’S CANADIAN IMMIGRATION INTEGRATION PROJECT (CIIP) THAT WILL BE IMPLEMENTED IN ITS PILOT OFFICES OVERSEAS. THE SESSION WILL BE HELD AT ACCC, SUITE 200 ? 1223 MICHAEL STREET NORTH, OTTAWA ON THURSDAY, JUNE 29, 2006 FROM 9:00 A.M. TO 12 NOON. THIS WOULD BE AN EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITY FOR A NEWCOMER TO ACQUIRE SOME EXPERIENCE IN A CANADIAN WORK ENVIRONMENT AND TO IMPROVE THEIR ENGLISH LANGUAGE SKILLS AND
CONFIDENCE.
ACCC WOULD COVER TRANSPORTATION COSTS AND PROVIDE LIGHT REFRESHMENTS.

The Canadian Immigration Integration Project (CIIP) is a pilot funded by Human Resources and Social Development Canada (HRSDC) and aims to contribute to a more successful integration process for immigrants by helping them prepare effectively in their country of origin before arriving in Canada. It will be launched in the field by the fall of 2006 and is due to conclude within two years.
CIIP will operate in three countries:
India
China
Philippines
Overview of CIIP services will include the following:
Information
To provide realistic understanding of the opportunities and challenges ahead;
Advice
To enable clients to make informed choices about their settlement needs; and
Bridging to Canada
To give clients a head-start by facilitating initial contact with appropriate bodies in Canada.
