有孩子读lawyer的吗？

I see where you are confused. Before you can start taking up law study, you must have a minimum bachelor degree in other fields. But this does not seem to be good enough these days because many firms require people to have a PhD degree in other fields + Law. As I said, it's desirable to have it, not mandatory.

Please show me evidence for "many firms require people to have a PHD degree in other fields+law. " I haven't see this kind advertise.

看孩子想学什么。。。 最怕的是那多钱砸进去了，娃学着学着跑去搞艺术了。。。

十分有道理。家长不能把自己的想法压在孩子身上，更不能期待自己没有实现的梦想，由孩子来实现。孩子如果不喜欢，能学好吗？

楼主只是问读lawyer的信息， 楼主有说读lawyer不是孩子的想法吗？

不是每一个律师跟政治有关的，比如说，知识产权保护。

说得是平常socialise的时候。。。

每一个团体都有自己的习惯。。。

读完phd，再去读law school，不是很现实。

再一个，读phd的目的是research or acdemic，否则会很boring。Phd不只是一个学位，而是一个career path。中国人为了博士头衔而去读的做法，并不可取。

It's important to be politically savvy. It's almost impossible to be admitted to law school, if you don't show you are politically knowledgeable. They will look into how many courses you have taken in that area and your marks.

Really? I only they need your GPA and pass LSAT test and don't know they will look into political knowledgeable.

are you sure? I only know if you pass LSAT in the third year, you can take some law school courses and finish your law school until you get the master degree in law. The consular always suggest you finish BA firstly because not every law school student can get the master degree and pass the bar test. In this case, you will don't have any degree even though you study for 5-7 years.

这个要看学校的具体要求。原则上来说，law school是graduate education，３年的本科教育是必需的。但每个学校可能有不同的办法来折衷。

几年前我自己考虑过读law school。很做了些research。这里说的也只是自己的想法。读law school 的风险一点也不低. 中国人读比较少是真的。语言，social network都是原因。还有一点，其实lawyer的名声并不好: professional trained liars。就收入来讲，也远没有想象的那么高。回头看， 当我们选择职业的时候，往往有很多的成分。想象中的工作和实际并不是一回事。在本科开始之前，就去考虑本科之后的方向，感觉太早了。

法学的＂投入产出比＂不比医学高。像法学这样的软科学，我们是处于劣势的。如果目标是进law firm，可以看一下top law firms 里面中国背景partners的比例。进政府的话，还是读French literature的更合算, .
上届驻加拿大大使的女儿是在这边读law school的。回中国工作了--如果你有很好的network, 那就是另外一回事。

回过头来说：
risk 不应该是选择专业的标准。任何一个专业都有一定的risk 。
repeat myself: 本科还没有开始的时候就去考虑本科之后的事情，有点早。兴趣是不停变化的。

If you graduate from a famous law school, like Yale, your entry level salary start at 170k a year in law firm. As a doctor, you have many chance to deal with law sue. It is easy get bankruptcy.
