Well, I was talking about this news story regardless of things in real life.

What I was trying to say was that untill they are found or their bodies are found, a news story cannot draw a conclusion based on speculation or even common sense. The pair can only be described as missing. A news story tells about facts, not the writer's opinion or speculation.

This news writing is typically not professional: 两名中国留学生在渥太华划艇失踪(或已死亡); ... 两名中国留学生很可能已经溺水身亡。


That was my point.

The parents of a missing Carleton University student are pleading for the public's help to find their daughter.
Nadia Kajouji, 18, has not been seen since March 9 when she returned to Ottawa after spending reading week with her family in Brampton, Ont.

Friends and family say that the body of a young woman recovered from the Rideau River behind St. Paul University in Ottawa is that of missing Carleton University student Nadia Kajouji.
The body was discovered by a passing boater just after 11 a.m Sunday morning.
