The Competition Bureau has announced the Canadian Real Estate Association has agreed to get rid of “anti-competitive” rules.
The competition watchdog says it has reached a deal with the CREA to ensure consumers have access to a range of services from their real estate agents.
Commissioner Melanie Aitken says “if ratified, the agreement will ensure the consumers have the ability to choose which services they want from a real estate agent when selling their home, and to pay for only those services.”
The Competition Bureau filed an application with the Competition Tribunal in February seeking to strike down CREA’s rules regarding the Multiple Listing Service.
