Essential Functions:
・ Perform generalized Network monitoring, troubleshooting and repair ・ Design and implement multi-protocol Ethernet systems ・ Occasional work with legacy Token Ring Systems and SNA protocols ・ Hardware and software configuration and setup of network components; routers, concentrators and switches. ・ Heavy interface with both Technical and non-technical Users and Management at all levels of the Corporation ・ Design, implement, and troubleshoot Cisco PIX and CheckPoint Firewalling systems ・ Troubleshoot network issues using NAI "Sniffer" Protocol Analyzer ・ Prepare/provide documentation as required ・ Implement CSC Network operational Policies/Procedures as required ・ Interact with established CSC operational Systems as required
Essential Knowledge:
・ In depth knowledge of Ethernet routing and switching, 10/100 + GBit, FDDI and ATM ・ Performs technical work of a professional level using standard techniques, concepts, and procedures. ・ Solid knowledge of Network Engineering ・ Expected to show initiative and judgment in performing assigned tasks. ・ Expert in one or more of the following product lines; CISCO, Bay Networks, Whittaker, Novel, Nortel ・ Solid familiarity with Cisco PIX and CheckPoint Firewall systems and equipment ・ Operations and interpretation of NAI "Sniffer" protocol analysis equipment.
Essential Education:
・ Recent (last two years) Bachelors Degree in Computer Information Systems/ Computer Sciences, and/or equivalent experience of 5 to 7 years in the field. ・ 7 years professional experience, with at least 4 in the networking area ・ Professional training, certifications, or clearances a plus (see below) ・ Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or 4 years of on-hands experience required ・ Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) a very strong plus ・ CheckPoint Certification in Systems Admin and/or Systems Engineering required (CCSA, CCSE)
Essential Skills:
・ Strong written, verbal skills ・ Public oral presentation skills are highly desirable ・ Business Meeting conduct and management skills are highly desirable ・ Strong PC/Windows 95/98/2000/ Operating System proficiency required ・ UNIX/LINUX/MAC general Operating System proficiency a strong plus ・ Knowledge of Microsoft apps (Word; Excel; PowerPoint; Project, Visio) required ・ Project management skills highly desirable ・ Cisco Router experience required ・ Cisco PIX Firewall experience required ・ CheckPoint Firewall experience required ・ NAI "Sniffer" protocol analysis experience highly desirable ・ Multi-lingual capability (English, French, and possibly Spanish) desirable
