The only difference I can think of between push email and push email is Push email can deliver instantly, but pull email will wait 2-3 minutes for sync period. However, if the email sender expecting immediate response, they most likely won't send email at all, they will make phone call instead
I believe that is the reason why RIM is dying: exaggerate they technology and ignore user experience. While Apple is at opposite, that's why they are successful.
