Imports to Canada were down 1.4 percent month-over-month to CAD 51.7 billion in April 2019, from an upwardly revised CAD 52.4 billion in March. Exports from Canada rose 1.3 percent month-over-month to CAD 50.7 billion in April 2019 from an upwardly revised CAD 50 billion in February. Shipments increased for non-metallic mineral products (15 percent), driven by higher exports of gold; farm, fishing and intermediate food products (5.1 percent) and crude oil (11.7 percent) while lower exports were recorded in motor vehicles & parts (-4.6 percent), mostly due to lower shipments of passenger cars and light trucks. Among major trading partners, exports went upto the US (1.9 percent),China (5.5 percent) and Italy (20.1 percent) while those decreased to the UK (-0.5 percent). Exports in Canada averaged 22193.04 CAD Million from 1971 until 2019, reaching an all time high of 51251.50 CAD Million in July of 2018 and a record low of 1366 CAD Million in February of 1971.
