Republican Sen. Thom Tillis told U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer he is “skeptical” that Trump’s tariff strategy will work and not alienate voters.
The North Carolina lawmaker pressed Greer at a Senate Finance Committee hearing on who would be held responsible if the strategy fails.
“Whose throat do I get to choke if this proves to be wrong? Tillis asked Greer.
“I’m just trying to figure out if they’re going to feel good about this,” said Tillis.
“I wish you well, but I am skeptical.”
