２００３年以前的 Corolla 需要４８０００km/36months 换Automatic Transmission Fluid。２００３年以后的 Corolla 则可以９６０００km/７２months 换Automatic Transmission Fluid。 这是为什么？

Thank you all. One of my family cars is 2002 Corolla, and has driven it for ~45000 km since last time the ATF was changed. Dealer asked me to change the the ATF again. I am wondering if I can wait a bit longer. I don't want to spend too much money on this very old car.

Change ATF

If you don't want your car to have Transmission failure, it is better to change ATF for every 48000 km. Also since your car is more than eight years old, all the warranty must be expired, if I were you, I won't go to dealer for any maintenance, which is expensive. A (honest) mechanic usually charges 40 CAD for changing ATF (dealer will charge you 80 plus tax). Your car can last for another 8 - 10 years without transmission problem. Good luck

In Ottawa, I go to DRAGON AUTOMOTIVE SERVICES, Address 916 Gladstone Ave. Phone 613-236-1615
The price of changing engine oil and ATF won't differ much among garages. Only plus or minus 2 to 3 dollars.
If you car is BMW, or Accura which needs special engine oil, you have to go back to dealer.
Corolla is a very reliable car, and many driving instructors use this to teach students. Your engine, if you change engine every 5000 km or 6 months whichever comes first, can last 400,000 km without problem.
