Woodroffe Ave. is closed at Hunt Club Rd. after a construction crew working to replace a water main severed a large natural gas pipe.
Ottawa Fire Department spokesman Marc Messier said a lot of resources are on the scene, just south of the Nepean Sportsplex, as a precaution. The trench rescue team is also on hand as Enbridge gas crews descend into a pit to repair the busted main.
Woodroffe is expected to remain closed into the afternoon from Hunt Club to Slack Rd. as repairs proceed.
Due to the location of the road closures, traffic is not able to reach the Nepean Sportsplex. The facility remains open, however.

Sorry Ottawa South now that we have a broken gas pipe you have to conserve your gas consumption. No air conditioning until Mid august. No gas BBQ.
Oh ya next the crew that are fixing the gasleak will cut some HYDRO cables by mistake. and then there will be no Electrcity, Gas or Water till August.
