If you are already well off, have no family worries and want to do something in China, it is probably a good idea to take the position. The primary goal is to do things and put all material considerations on the side.
If you still have lingering worries on positions, rewards etc, then it is a tough decision. You need to work for sometime for material returns as a professor or division chief. In general, these positions are not for quick profit and you need to work relationships and make actual contributions.
