关于大学选专业

我是国际学生，来加时间不算很长，对这儿的各种情况也不是很了解。毕竟刚从国内来的数理化还算好，今年申请了一堆的engineering、science和math。
觉得engineering基本放弃（虽然当时绝大部分申请的专业都是engineering相关，汗一个……爸妈辛苦挣的钱都打了水漂了），自认动手能力不强，而且物理算是理科里比较弱的。
数学还算不错
是希望以后能留在加拿大的，而且最好是本科毕业以后找个工作移民以后再继续深造，能减轻家里负担
家长比较倾向于我去读science，以后做个药剂师什么的（说不定以后愿意发奋再考个医学院……）。曾经他们也觉得精算很好，但现在又怕我读不出来，另外这个工作强度也很大，我毕竟是个女孩子，也怕我太辛苦
如此种种，现在已经收到的并重点考虑的offer有：
waterloo mathematics, waterloo life science, queen's science, western science（major也是精算）, ottawa biotechnology

希望大家给点意见，我该怎么取舍呢
另外，好多Canadian同学都说，读science或者math的，最坏的打算就是去教书，总会有地方需要老师的。这可行吗？我也想了解一下这方面的情况，算是做最坏的打算吧

就业面广是说学的东西多，各方面都用得上吗？但那样能拼得过专门读那些专业的人吗？

The professionals with the highest career prospects in Canada (not in order of the market demand) are certified accountant, certified financial analyst, software engineer, geologist and mining engineer (mineral and oil exploration), nurse, medical doctor (takes a minimum of 12 yrs including undergraduate degree with an average CGPA of 90% - A+), pharmacist (takes a minimum 6 yrs with an average CGPA of over 85% - only a few universities in Canada offer this program, each with a limited number of enrollments each year - less than 10, the degree is equivalent to a masters degree) etc.

Since you are new to Canada, your career choice will depend on your proficiency of English and or French. Engineering degrees require the least English proficiency compared to the rest that I listed above. Science degrees require fairly high proficiency, otherwise you won't be able to compete with the native speakers when you graduate. You seem to like pharmacist major, all health care professionals require exceptionally high language skills (above average even for native speakers).

I was an international student and I went through the battle of my career choices. The university degrees in North America are very different from China, that also goes with your eventual career path. It's very easy to get accepted into any university here for most Chinese students, it is a lot harder to graduate with good grade on time (less 30% of the students will eventually graduate on time (4 years with CGPA>B+) in science and engineering). I am quite familiar with the job market (supply and demand) in the field of science and engineering in Ottawa. If you need more help, I am happy to discuss further. I understand your situation, since I was in your shoes before.

所以，学science对英语要求很高，是因为要和人交流比较多吗？说实话我特别喜欢在实验室里做实验……
如果我去uWaterloo读Life Science，一到两年以后申请Pharmacy的那个program，是不是本科读完就可以去做那种在shoppers里配药的工作了？或者，是那种可以给人指导着买药的？还是我需要继续读书？
或者说，本科读完的pharmacy能找到什么样的工作呢？工作强度大吗？加班会很普遍吗？工资怎么样？
还有，觉得生物老师很推荐bioinformatics这个专业，这个读出来找什么样的工作呢？你觉得就业前景好不好？

英语要求高一些可能是因为关于专业的单词比较多。

你要是喜欢在实验室里做实验，可以本科读了继续读研以及PHD，但是相对其他专业来说工资要低一些。我认识的人本科出来在实验室工作是4-万年薪，研究生出来已开始是5-6万， PHD要读很久而且就业有点难，真正找到好工作年薪可以10万以上。

关于读药剂师专业，因为这个专业是second entry，留学生是不能申请的，除非你在其他国家有这个文凭。你申请时需要有枫叶卡，也就是永久居民，或者Canadian Citizen.
pharmacist 的职责远不止在shoppers里配药, 而更多是对药物的应用+patient counselling. Patient counselling 对英语的表达能力很高，就像上面说的一样，就是本地人也不一定能胜任。你经常需要把复杂的药物/生物化学知识转化成简单易懂句子，当面在5-6六分钟给病人说清楚。
这其中包括这个药的mechanism of action, 这个病理，这个药怎样吃/涂抹，这个药和食物易发生的反应，这个药和其它药易发生的反应。你得根据病人的情况而判断这个药可能造成的不良后果，比如说病人对药过敏，或者病人肾功能不好，而用的药容易伤肾，还有更多。所以要在5-6分钟把这些东西给一个人讲清楚对英语的表达能力较强。

在安省读pharmacy有两个选择：
University of Toronto: you will need 2 years minimum in Life Science.
You will then attend for 4 years in pharmacy school, and obtain Bachelor of Pharmacy. 有了这个学历你可以考pharmacist 执照，以及work as a pharmacist.
在现在，多大的pharmacy本科学位正在申请变成药学博士学位 (Doctor of Pharmacy)。因为在美国，pharmacy 专业比现在加拿大所学的知识要多，而美国4年pharmacy school 毕业拿到的文凭是Doctor of Pharmacy, 而不是Bachelor of pharmacy. 从2011年开始，多大的这个四年课程(bachelor of pharmacy) 所学的知识将和美国所学的知识一样，所以现在正在申请将此文凭变为Doctor of Pharmacy. Doctor of Pharmacy 意味着你可以在美国工作as a pharmacist, 同时你拥有更多的知识所以更适合在医院里工作。

uWaterloo: 在正式读pharmacy的课程以前你只需要一年的life science.
所以在真正读pharmacy的第一年仍要学不少基础课。这个4年读完了只会是bachelor of pharmacy.

Pharmacist 工资是以小时来算。在多伦多这种大城市工资较低，起薪一小时是35-40块。
渥村起薪大概是40-45块。
我村周围的小镇大概是45-55.
而北边偏远城市是60+。

工作强度较大，一般一个shift 是8-12个小时，没有任何break time，以及吃饭时间 （一般边工作边吃饭）。

工作几年后可以自己承包一个pharmacy, such as Shopper's Drug Mart。这个经费以及training主要来自总公司，所以药店的收入绝大收入是归总公司。
年薪一般是100k + bonus。

真正有钱和经验了可以自己出来开药店，赚的钱全是自己的。
