As an Indian student in Montreal who was working in a similar 'service' corporation (much like iGate) a year back, I wanna tell you my side of the story. So the scenario is that clients like RBC give a huge sum to companies like iGate to hire mass workforce. In my last firm we were 80 people working in a 'Offshore Development Center' for a 'foreign' client - work which was highly technically challenging and we were paid minimum wages (~$100/week) Overseas a similar guy gets paid ~$2000/week. No one complained and worked like mindless hogs while the top/middle management on both sides fill their pockets. We do not understand what we are doing in India. We just do - for self emancipation, welfare of family etc. We never get to know about this side of the story. In an year of work there, I understood how the system works and how shitty things were. I quit. I understand in my field of work, we had an upper hand technically compared to client (unlike RBCs case). But in lots of places, there are just 'call centres' which are ruining lives of Indians (who are wasting their youth in attending stupid calls!) and other worthless service firms which are doing the same to North Americans. The sad part is young uninformed engineers are so much enthusiastic and willing to work in those firms. I quit and came back and have sworn to never join a corporation in my life. They are truly seeking only one thing - money. I have gradually shifted to an academic life and while teaching (hopefully) in some years to come and I shall surely include my personal experiences of choosing a morally and ethically correct jobs. India's economy is booming for sure. Its just that I don't want it to grow by stepping on someone's face.
