Homemade green bin cleaner kills the maggots and deodorizes the bin so such pests will not return to the bin​

Instructions​

1. Mix 1/2 cup table salt, 1 cup lime juice and 3 cups white vinegar inside a spray bottle. Shake the bottle vigorously to mix the three ingredients.​

2. Spray any maggots you see inside the green bin. Spray the entire green bin, including the rim and lid of the bin, with the solution.​

3. Close the lid. Leave it closed for about 15 minutes.​

4. Wipe the entire bin thoroughly with a clean cloth. Make sure the bin is completely dry before placing any garbage back into the bin.​

5. Sprinkle 1/2 to 1 cup baking soda into the green bin to absorb odors that may attract maggots.

Tips & Warnings​

Avoid attracting maggots to the green bin by leaving meat items and bones outside of the bin until garbage collection/pickup day.​
