IKEA is recalling more than 1 million wall-mounted lamps sold in Canada, after a child died and another nearly strangled when they got tangled in lamps’ power cords.
The “SMILA” lamps have a 2.1 metre-long electrical cord and come in the following shapes: seashell, star, ladybug, seahorse, flower, heart and moon.
In separate incidents, both of which occurred in Europe, a 16-month-old child died and another 15-month-old child became entangled and nearly choked. Both times, the lamp cord was pulled into the crib by the infants.
