Special weather statement for
Ottawa North - Kanata - Orléans continued
Warm air and rain arriving tonight for most, with freezing rain expected across Eastern Ontario early Saturday.
A deepening low pressure system will approach Southern Ontario this evening and move north of the regions Saturday. Several weather types will occur before rain spreads across the regions.
Today fog patches and freezing drizzle are possible. As the southerly winds increase later today, the fog and freezing drizzle will dissipate.
Late this evening the rain will move over Southwestern Ontario and March eastward. General amounts of 10 to 25 millimetres of rain are expected and for most areas the rain will end Saturday afternoon.
Across Eastern Ontario freezing rain is expected overnight and during the early morning hours Saturday. There is now a freezing rain warning in effect for several regions. There is also a chance that the freezing rain will persist over the Ottawa River Valley until later Saturday morning before the transition to rain. The rain across Eastern Ontario may persist until Saturday evening.
Although the air temperature is expected to rise above zero in many areas, untreated surfaces may still be quite icy as the ground temperature may be below freezing due to the recent cold spell.
