After the verdict was read, each jury member stood up to confirm their decision individually.

One jury member was visibly shaken and wiped away tears.

Patrick McCann, Hamed’s lawyer, told CP he was disappointed and didn’t understand how the Crown’s theory could fit.

Moosa Hadi, the private investigator hired by the Shafia family to find "the truth", was taken off the property by police after shouting at the prosecutor that the decision was an "injustice."

Several people described it as "overwhelming".
 
Insp. Brian Begbie of the Kingston police said, "honour is a tough word to even comprehend with this. There's nothing honorable about it. That's been the struggle through the whole case and it will continue to be. It's murder. That's what it is."
 
George Krauss, who lives just outside Kingston, has been attending the trial since December.

He said, "We have four lovely women that have a voice and now they can rest in peace."
