我以前查过building code。。对楼梯能伸出去多长没规定。。

RICHCRAFT给我们的解释跟报纸上phoenix的解释一样，你自己改没人管，让它改breach the code，不能做。。

有个问题：原报道没有提到市政府的责任或角色？按道理，building code里对泊车面积有规定，长度底线是5.2米（相当于17英尺，不包括车库里楼梯的宽度），如果不到这个长度，等于是违章建筑，市府在检验新房时不能通过？如果是不经仔细检查就通过，市府也需要承担责任？

Those pictures were taken by Hugh Adami using the cellphone, if these images were leading the public, then Ottawa Citizen will be liable, not the owner.

I am not sure the owners are interested in financial compensation at this point, as contrary, they are more interested in resolving this issue so they will be able to park their vehicle in their double garage.
