Freezing rain warning in effect for Ottawa-Gatineau
A freezing rain warning is in effect for the Ottawa-Gatineau region on Monday and it could fall for about six hours, according to Environment Canada.
It's expected to begin falling tonight in southern central Ontario, then spread to eastern Ontario by Monday.
Snow and ice pellets are expected to fall in the Ottawa and St. Lawrence valleys before dawn on Monday, and a few centimetres of accumulation is possible.
The snow and ice pellets are expected to change to freezing rain later in the morning or in the afternoon, said a post on the weather agency's website.
"Around six hours of freezing rain are likely, from late Monday morning through early evening," the website said.
Finally, rain is forecast to fall in the evening.
Pedestrians and drivers are asked to be extra cautious on roads and sidewalks.
