Bus windshield shattered by ‘wave of slush’
OTTAWA — “A tidal wave of slush” shattered the windshield of the 93 bus on Friday afternoon.
Andrew Nice, 36, was on his way home from work just before 4 p.m. on Friday when a “wall of slush” seemed to catapult itself over the median from the Hwy 417 and smash into the windshield of his eastbound 93 bus from Kanata.
The bus was just past Bayshore in the Pinecrest area travelling parallel to the highway when a “huge wave of brown sludge just kind of flew in front of the bus and smashed in the windshield,” said Nice on Friday evening.
“It hit hard enough that the glass sprayed in and some of the slush actually got inside too,” said Nice, who was sitting just behind the priority seating on the double-long bus.
Nice said the bus driver acted “very professionally: He just kind of slowed the bus down and continued ... and pulled over at the next stop so everyone could get out.”
That’s when Nice snapped the photos and later asked a friend to post them to his Twitter account (@rogerscentral) with the caption “Bus-ted! Check out the damage a tidal wave of slush did to the 93 bus this afternoon!”
OC Transpo was not immediately available to comment on the incident but Nice said no one was injured and most passengers were able to take the next bus to their various destinations.
