Canada Day Parade (9:00 am)
Kick off your celebration of Canada's birthday by watching this colourful parade of marching bands, flag-bearers, ribbon-twirlers and other lively performers in the heart of the Capital.
Route: The parade starts in front of Ottawa City Hall, on Laurier Avenue, heads up Elgin Street (in the northbound lanes) towards the Parliament Buildings, then along Wellington Street (in the westbound lanes) to finish at the Supreme Court of Canada.
Canada Day on Parliament Hill
Join in the tradition celebrations - the flag-raising and Changing of the Guard Ceremonies, a noontime show featuring Canadian talent and a spectacular sundown performance by top Canadian musicians. Both the noon and evening shows will be broadcast live across the country on CBC and SRC.

Downtown Fireworks (10:00 pm)
Some of the best views are from Jacques-Cartier Park, Gatineau, Major's Hill Park, Ottawa, Canada and the World Pavilion, Ottawa and along the Ottawa River. (The fireworks will be set off from the Astrolabe at about 10:05 pm, right after the evening show on Parliament Hill.)
Canada Day in Fallingbrook
Every July 1, the Fallingbrook Community Association organizes the largest volunteer-run Canada Day celebration in the country. Thousands of people attend the fair, amusement rides, games, races and entertainment during the day. At night, over 20,000 people watch the professional fireworks. This event is intended for provide a "small-town" alternative for young families who would prefer not to take their children to the show on Parliament Hill. A wide range of family activities, including a special outdoor concert by the full Central Band of the Canadian Forces at noon and the Maple Leaf Brass Band at 2:00 pm. Free admission all day long.

Canada Day at the Canadian Museum of Science and Technology
To celebrate Canada Day, the Museum is pleased to offer free admission to all visitors. In addition, July 1 will mark the opening of the new Nortel Networks Connexions exhibition featuring a new segment highlighting digital communication technology. Informative and interactive, this new area introduces visitors to the science and processes by which messages are formatted for travel through a digital network.
