It's a lot better than paying the $30-$40 NSF charge if you didn't have overdraft in place.

I know a few local people who live from pay cheque to pay cheque, and was really under the pressure when there was a strike in my previous work place. They had no emergency fund in place and had to borrow from family to pay for mortgage and other bills. However in the following months they never learned to start saving and indulged on gourmet coffees and cigarettes as usual.
