For overall academics and reputation, Queens is even below UT and McGill, not to say to be compared with Harvard, Oxford and Cambridge.
Every year, Times will publish world Top University rankings, which is basically based on academic not on vocational training. (University is University, place for academics, not vocational training institutes). From 2005 to 2013, UT and McGill always are the top two Canadian Universities. Peking, Tsing Hua the same. As for Queens and Waterloo, (it is easy to find that ranking...)
And each year McClean Magazine (Canadian) also ranked Canadian Universities.
If the number one objective is to find a decent JOB after graduation, then Waterloo probably is the best, since all the programs are created according to JOB market need. Given the fact that Canada has an unemployment rate of 7.2 %, finding a job is the most important objective, hence most brilliant high school students pick Waterloo (its co-op program let them have WORK experience). But Queens has Medical school, Law school....
Anyway, I have a Caucasian co-worker who told me his daughter was offered four year (6000 CAD a year) scholarship by Carleton University, but she finally picked Algonquin college, she said the Algonquin program (vocational program) allows her to find job much easier after graduation. Do you know how many University graduates cannot find a DECENT job after graduation?
Again, if finding job is number one priority, pick Waterloo (the right program), if academic is more important, maybe Queens, UT, McGill...
